Appliance Trends 2018
The 2018 International Builders Show is a great place for builders to catch up on the latest products. There is so much to see at the show from basements to rooftops. This year the appliances really stole the show. Here are some of our takeaways and appliance trends for 2018.
Connectivity is key
Connected appliances are the big deal these days and most manufacturers are offering mobile enabled appliances that you can check in with your smart phone. This is obviously useful for turning on or pre-heating your oven, checking on energy usage, or perhaps if you kids really did a load of laundry while you were gone or not! You will see more and more connected appliances in the coming years.
One amazing development was that Tesla Automotive has a connected car that will let you talk to your appliances. Turn them on, or have them fire up when you get within proximity of your home. Pretty amazing stuff!
Not just Stoves and Microwaves Anymore
When you think of appliances you typically think of stoves, refrigerators, and microwaves. Well now there is an appliance for everything. If you are really into making your own pizzas, then you can get a stainless built in pizza oven that gets you a nice crispy crust every time. Or if you are a coffee nerd, a programmable built in coffee machine will make you your favorite cup of express using the settings you like most.
They now have indoor and outdoor beverage dispensers for your beer too. If you are really into perfect looking clothes you will be amazed at the 18” side clothing steamer that fits neatly into your closet. If you want to get a perfect ironing job quickly the laundry caddy helps pull the steam through the ironing board to get your shirts press fast and looking professional.
They even have built in food storage devices now. Seal your food up and keep it fresh until you are ready to cook it.
Black is the new stainless
While the oil rubbed bronze trend did not take off in appliances the black stainless finish is quite fetching and may take hold. It makes sense right, combine the two most popular finishes into one. What’s not to like?
So there are the latest trends in appliances. No matter if you are building a new home or updating your existing home you are sure to find lots of choices, options, and technology in your next appliance. They are all designed to make your daily chores a bit easier and most importantly save you time.
