Milwaukee new home builder Belman Homes founder Don Belman was awarded the Metropolitan Builders Association’s highest award, the MBA Hall of Fame Award this evening at Surge on Water Street. This exclusive award was presented by his son, David Belman who just received the Wisconsin Builders Association’s Rising Star Award moments earlier.
Don was not aware he was going to receive the award. “It was an incredible honor and privilege to be able to present my father with such an esteemed honor. It was truly a highlight of my career to tell my father how proud I was of him.” Said David Belman
During his acceptance speech Don Belman paid homage to several Past Presidents of the MBA who are no longer with us that influenced him including Anders Lewis, Bruce Horner, Jerome McGinnis.
Highlights of Don Belman’s involvement with the Builders Association:
Chaired the following committees:
•Sales and marketing
•Construction Arbitration Board CAB
•New building committee
•Served on Ethics board
Don also gave numerous seminars including contractor fraud, and choosing a builder. Don help create the MBA’s strategic plan, helped on the MBA site and building committee for the building the MBA currently operates out of as well as assisted on many site selection committees for the Parade of Homes as well as many other committees. Don has been a new home builder in Milwaukee and Waukesha County for over 33 years.
Don Belman also served as Past President of MBA and was also awarded Builder of the Year in 1996.
On the State and Local level Don participated in a comprehensive regional housing study on new homes, condos, and apartments in Waukesha county and also participated on an impact fee study to help reduce costs of municipal fees for building.
In addition Don has built and developed over 14 subdivisions and built nearly 1500 new homes in Waukesha County and has always had a sterling reputation throughout the industry as a reputable, quality builder.
“Don always treats everyone whether it is the CEO of a company to the guy sweeping the floor the same way, as the most important person in the room. “ said David Belman when presenting the Award.
“Don has also been very generous to the community when it was in need. Often donating money to save important things in the community such as the City of Waukesha’s Fireworks on 4th of July and an ice skating rink the he used to play on as a child. Don did this without ever being asked, and without any thought of getting any recognition from it. He did simply because it was the right thing to do.” Mentioned David Belman when presenting the award.
